Our 55 foot Class 1 CCA Treated Southern Yellow Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are treated with preservatives to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to ensure rot and decay prevention. The long term durability of a wood utility pole is one of its main benefits
These 55 ft wood poles are perfect for sports fields, baseball fields or used as utility poles. You can add 1-2 light arms per side, 2-4 in total, but no more than 2 per side. Each arm can accommodate 240 lbs per arm. The number of arms and lights depends on the class of the utility pole you select. The pole length will determine how significant the taper is as with all timber utility poles.
Options Available:
Cross Arms (2-4 per pole, 1-2 per side) and Mounting Brackets. The customer is responsible for mounting Cross Arm after the poles are delivered. Poles do not ship with cross arms attached.
These are the lights we typically mount on the cross arms. Up to 6 lights per arm, not to exceed 240 total pounds of fixtures and hardware.
Delivery is made with a standard flatbed truck depending on pole lengths and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a fork lift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload ? customer supplied. Customer is responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment available at time of delivery. Installation should be done by a trained professional.
Pricing: Does not include price of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.
Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement. While our main product line is southern yellow pine, we at times are able to offer other species including douglas fir and red pine. CCA treatment generally will result in the poles being free of insects for decades to come.
Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1 year-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

Professional-Grade Utility Pole Solution
For facilities that require substantial overhead lighting infrastructure, this 55-foot Class 1 Southern Yellow Pine utility pole delivers the structural integrity and longevity needed for demanding applications. Built to ANSI O5.1 specifications and manufactured entirely in the United States, this treated timber pole provides reliable support for sports lighting, area illumination, and utility installations.
Engineered to handle demanding conditions with CCA treatment that prevents rot and decay, this pole offers a proven alternative to steel and concrete options. With its 47.5-foot above-grade height and robust 2730-3230 pound construction, operators who need dependable lighting infrastructure will appreciate the natural durability that Southern Yellow Pine provides in outdoor environments.
LED vs Legacy Technology
- Wood utility poles offer superior longevity compared to untreated alternatives, with preservative treatment extending operational life significantly
- Direct burial installation eliminates the need for complex foundation work required by concrete pole systems
- Natural wood construction provides better vibration dampening than steel poles in high-wind conditions
- CCA treatment process ensures consistent protection against environmental factors that compromise untreated timber
Why This Fixture Performs
- Supports up to 240 pounds per cross arm, enabling multiple high-output LED fixtures while maintaining structural safety margins
- Provides 47.5 feet of above-grade height for optimal light distribution across large areas like sports fields and parking lots
- Reduces downtime thanks to proven wood construction that withstands environmental stress without the corrosion issues of metal alternatives
- Strengthens safety through ANSI Class 1 rating and American Wood Preservers Association treatment standards
Installation Guide
In practice, this pole requires direct burial installation with 7.5 feet below grade for proper stability. The tapered design ranges from 14.801 inches diameter at the base measurement point to 8.594 inches at the top, providing optimal weight distribution. Cross arms and mounting brackets are available separately and must be installed after pole delivery, allowing customization based on specific lighting requirements and local wind load conditions.
