Our 20 Foot Class 3 CCA Treated Southern Yellow Pine Poles are grown, debarked, and treated in the United States. They are manufactured to ANSI O5.1 specification. Poles are pressure treated and preservative treated to the latest American Wood Preservers Association standards to prevent damage from termites, decay and rot regardless of the species used.

Our 20 ft round wood poles are perfect for sports fields, baseball fields, and a utility pole project. You can add 1 light arms per side, 2 in total. Each arm can accommodate 240 lbs of lights per arm. Availability can change based on the quantity and length required as different sizes can have different lead times. Our poles are built with durability in mind to ensure long-lasting performance.

Options Available:

Cross Arms (2 per pole, 1 per side) and Mounting Brackets. The customer is responsible for mounting the Cross Arm after poles are delivered. Poles do not ship with cross arms attached.

These are the lights we typically mount on the cross arms. Up to 6 lights per arm, not to exceed 240 total pounds of fixtures and hardware.

Delivery is made with a flatbed truck and the customer is responsible for offloading. Offloading requires a forklift or appropriate similar vehicle to offload – customer supplied. Customers are responsible for any costs associated with delivery rescheduling because of improper scheduling or not having the proper offloading equipment or area to store poles available at the time of delivery. Please contact a sales representative prior to purchasing to ensure all the project details are clear.

Pricing: Does not include cost of shipping. Shipping is available to the lower 48 USA states. We can supply a budgetary shipping quote or a firm shipping quote that is good for 14 days.

Disclaimer: LED Lighting Supply is not responsible for improper loading (ie what is mounted to the pole), installation costs, or foundation design of light poles. Dimensions and specifications of poles are subject to change without notice but the pole top and butt dimensions will always be within ANSI specifications. Wood poles are the ideal option for most field projects as concrete poles require more frequent maintenance and replacement. While our main product line is southern yellow pine, we at times are able to offer other species including douglas fir and red pine. CCA treatment generally will result in the poles being free of insects for decades to come.

Please be advised that our wood poles are covered solely by a 1 year-year workmanship warranty, which ensures that the poles are free from defects from the manufacturing process, and structural integrity, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from external factors, misuse, or normal wear and tear.

20 Foot Class 3 Treated Southern Yellow Pine Wood Pole

Built for environments where reliable outdoor lighting support is essential, this 20-foot Class 3 Southern Yellow Pine pole delivers dependable performance for sports fields, baseball diamonds, and utility applications. Engineered to handle demanding conditions with pressure-treated CCA preservation, this pole provides 16 feet of above-grade height while maintaining the structural integrity required for multi-fixture installations. What makes this fixture valuable for buyers is its ANSI O5.1 specification compliance and domestic manufacturing that ensures consistent quality standards.

Replacing Older Lighting Systems

When upgrading from deteriorated wooden poles or metal systems, this treated Southern Yellow Pine solution offers superior resistance to environmental damage. Compared to legacy fixtures, the CCA treatment process provides enhanced protection against termites, decay, and rot that commonly affect untreated wood installations.

  • Pressure treatment extends operational life beyond standard untreated poles
  • Direct burial installation eliminates concrete foundation requirements
  • Load capacity supports up to 240 pounds per cross arm for modern LED fixtures
  • Class 3 rating ensures appropriate strength for dual-arm configurations

Mounting, Setup & Controls

For most installations, this pole utilizes direct burial mounting with 4 feet below grade for stability. The tapered design provides 7.321-inch minimum diameter at the top and 8.594-inch minimum diameter at the 6-foot mark from the base, ensuring adequate strength distribution. Cross arms mount separately after delivery, with capacity for up to 6 lights per arm while maintaining the 240-pound weight limit per side.

Certifications

  • ANSI O5.1 specification compliance
  • American Wood Preservers Association treatment standards
  • CCA pressure treatment certification
  • Class 3 structural rating verification

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum fixture weight this pole can support?

Performance Overview

This model is designed for applications where structural reliability and weather resistance are critical factors. The Southern Yellow Pine construction offers natural strength characteristics while the CCA treatment process penetrates throughout the wood fiber for comprehensive protection. Additionally, the Class 3 rating ensures appropriate load-bearing capacity for typical sports lighting and utility applications.

  • 500-600 pound total weight provides excellent stability when buried
  • 23-inch minimum circumference at top maintains strength under load
  • 27-inch minimum circumference at 6-foot mark distributes ground-level stress
  • Direct burial installation reduces setup complexity and foundation costs

Operational Benefits

Energy Efficiency

Built with modern lighting systems in mind, this pole supports efficient LED fixture installations that significantly reduce operational costs compared to traditional high-intensity discharge lighting. The dual cross arm configuration allows for optimal light distribution patterns while maintaining structural efficiency.

Reliability & Durability

Engineered for high performance in outdoor environments, the pressure-treated construction resists the common failure modes that affect untreated wood poles. In real-world use, the CCA treatment provides decades of protection against biological deterioration, while the tapered design distributes wind and fixture loads effectively throughout the structure.

Maintenance Reduction

From a cost standpoint, the comprehensive treatment process eliminates the frequent inspections and replacements associated with untreated wood installations. The domestic manufacturing ensures consistent quality standards, while the Class 3 rating provides appropriate safety margins that reduce the likelihood of premature structural issues.
